Radio Chilmari is awarded for its anti-tobacco role!
Radio Chilmari 99.2 FM (a community radio initiated by RDRS) has been awarded for its role in TAPS (Tobacco Advertising, Promotion, and Sponsorship) ban in light of Tobacco Control Law in Bangladesh. Under the ‘Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids’ program, Radio Chilmari initiated programs containing anti-tobacco messages to create awareness among its listeners and in a wide range.
EC Bangladesh, a national NGO and Bangladesh Community Radio Association (BCRA) jointly organized a competition and awarded three community radio stations in Bangladesh. An award giving ceremony was held on 19 July 2016 at Press Institute Bangladesh in Dhaka. Ms Sabrina Sharmin, Communications Coordinator of RDRS Bangladesh received the award (crest, certificate and prize money) for Radio Chilmari from Mr Martuza Ahmed, the Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Information, Government of Bangladesh.
