Meeting between RDRS, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Church of Sweden Uppsala, 3 May 2007

Dr Samsuzzaman gave a presentation on RDRS’ main areas of work with particular focus on the sustainable livelihoods programme.

The different possibilities and options for collaboration between SLU and RDRS were discussed, such as :

-Explore possibilities of Swedish undergraduate students to do their field work with RDRS and likewise for Bangladeshi students to do course work at SLU and field work with RDRS.

-Explore possibilities of exchanges at research level, especially when RDRS University is launched.

 

Action points:
RDRS to draft an action plan for a future collaboration that could be attached to a future MoU.
CoS to look into possibility of scholarships.
SLU to seek internally for researchers interested in a possible collaboration with RDRS.
RDRS to present a few topics for a possible first placement of students in the autumn of 2007.
CoS to share a hard copy of the MoUs that RDRS has signed with other universities, with SLU.
RDRS to contact SLU when the proposed RDRS University has been instituted.
Cos will act as a focal points for future discussions and possible collaboration.
SLU to explore the possibilities to present a grant application from the Linnaeus-Palme foundation for a contact mission to RDRS. The deadline for grant applications is February 2008.
