RDRS has now altered
its approach to social mobilization. The
focus in the past had been on developing
the "poorest of the poor" at the
grassroots. Thus training had been given
at group level, primary health care provided
from house-to-house, latrines were for individual
families, etc. But this had not proved cost-effective,
especially as it required an extensive network
of field workers.
Under the new strategy, RDRS focuses
on the community level for discussion
and work on all social, educational and
health issues. By doing so, it is hoped
that the work of RDRS will have a greater
impact on the community as a whole, not
just on RDRS beneficiaries.
