RDRS Women’s Rights Unit organised a Women’s Convention in Rangpur on 23 December 2006. A total of 600 women including staff and pro-gramme participants from different districts attended the convention.

The main objective of the convention

was to promote the present and future strategy of RDRS for gender development. Three seminars on HIV/AIDS and gender, Uniform Family Code and Protection and Promotion of Women’s Rights were held to sensitize women staff, local people and civil society actors.

The day-long convention concluded with recommendations for building capacity of women staff and also identified issues of advocacy at local/regional level.
