Following the success of a smaller project in 1999 in which 500 families were provided with mortgages to build houses, in 2000, the Bangladesh Bank provided Taka 10 million (US $ 179,000) to the poor through the RDRS' housing project which continues further.

In this, the beneficiaries pay for the house in easy installments over a long period. This project is another example of collaboration as it is part of a national project headed by the Prime Minister.
