EUAV Capacity Building Program in Bangladesh launched

Dhaka, 20 April 2016: The EU Aid Volunteers (EUAV) Capacity Building Program in Bangladesh has been launched today in Dhaka. RDRS, the leading implementing partner in Bangladesh hosted the launching program at its Dhaka office. ICCO Cooperation provided necessary support to host the event. A total of 15 representatives from the member organizations of ACT Forum and ICCO Cooperation in Bangladesh were present in the launching program. The participant organizations are: CCDB, CODEC,  DanChurchAid, Gana Unnayan Kendra, ICCO Coperation, Koinonia, RDRS Bangladesh, SEHD and Taungya.

Dr Salima Rahman, Executive Director of RDRS Bangladesh inaugurated the event. In her inaugural speech, Dr Salima briefly shared the background of EUAV initiatives in global and Bangladesh perspective. She welcomed all participants of the launching program.

Ms Heleen van der Beek, Country Representative of ICCO Cooperation in Bangladesh gave an overview of the program. She discussed the aims and objectives of the program. She also shared information about the ACT Alliance consortium which is implementing the program in different part of the world.

Ms Monjusree Saha, Head of Program Coordination of RDRS Bangladesh discussed about the training activities would be undertaking by the project.

Mr Abdul Mannan – Assistant Coordinator (Environment), Ms Sabrina Sharmin – Communications Coordinator and Mohammad Abdur Rahman – Sr Coordinator (Project Development and Reporting) of RDRS Bangladesh discussed on the EUAV program & action plan, branding & visibility, and EU Aid certification process respectively.

In the open discussion session, Mr Jayanta Adhikari, Executive Director of CCDB said that the experience from the project will enrich our organization. Mr Abdur Rahman, Regional Project Coordinator of DCA gave emphasize on appropriate staff selection for training events under the project to get long-term benefit.

In their concluding remarks, Dr Salima Rahman and Heleen van der Beek thanked all participants for their active participation and wish a fruitful implementation of the project in Bangladesh.

 

(The EUAV Capacity Building Program is implemented by a broad consortium of ACT Alliance members that aims to build humanitarian capacities and increase leadership of local and national NGOs in 8 Disaster-prone countries – DRC, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar and Nepal. The ACT Alliance consortium consists of 5 European members – Christian Aid, DanChurchAid, DECCB, FinChurchAid, ICCO Netherlands; and 5 Southern members BOAD DRC, Church of Uganda, EECMY Ethiopia, RDRS Bangladesh and LWD Cambodia.)
